Project - Gary Liddle

images/gofpic294.jpg Former Middlesbrough footballer Gary Liddle has used Goffy Media many times throughout his career to help raise his profile.

He's one of the footballers who understands how important it is to generate the right kind of profile in the Media if you're going to be picked up by other clubs - it's not just about your playing talent.

Gary left Middlesbrough and went to Hartlepool United, where he really made a name for himself as a versatile utility player.

When Hartlepool offered him a new contract, he declined, as he felt he wanted to move to another club for more experience and a fresh challenge. That's when he contacted Goffy Media.

We explained the kind of publicity we might be able to obtain for him in the press, as well as the importance of the right kind of profile on social media, such as Facebook and Twitter.

The aim of the project was to get his name out across the country, to let other clubs know that he was available. This included us obtaining back page features about Gary in newspapers in Nottingham, Coventry, Carlisle, and Sheffield, highlighting his great track record in his career so far. These areas were targetted as there had previously been rumours of clubs in those cities being interested in signing Gary.

Notts County eventually won the race to sign him, and he proved to be a great asset to the club. In his first season, Gary broke every record at Meadow Lane, including playing every minute of every game.

Gary is pictured left with his various trophies from Notts County, including Fans' Player of the Season, Players' Player of the Season, and Manager's Player of the Season. We used that picture as another opportunity for Goffy Media to spread Gary Liddle's name around the country.

We secured further back page PR for Gary, taking him back to his home town Middlesbrough in the Evening Gazette, as well as the Hartlepool Mail and a host of national papers and football magazines, to highlight his incredible personal achievements. We also arranged an hour-long radio programme for him on BBC Tees (see picture at top left of this page).

Gary, now at Bradford City,  continues to use Goffy Media, and has highlighted the power of his association with us many times on his personal Twitter account.e
