Project - HUFC Reunion

Goffy Media organised a special event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hartlepool United Football Club's 1990/1 season in which they gained promotion to Division 3.

This was a special evening Hartlepool fans where they could see many of the stars from that promotion-winning team get back together and talk about their experiences of that season,  as well as hear music and memories from the period.

The event was held at the Rovers Quoit Club, Grainger Street, Hartlepool on Thursday November 18th 2010.

Paul Gough himself compered the event, as well as interviewing the former players on the night about their memories.

The evening, which was a sell-out, was a huge success, and everyone who attended said how much they enjoyed the event.

Former Hartlepool stars Joe Allon and Paul Baker (pictured below) returned to Hartlepool to promote the reunion of the promotion winning squad from season 90 /91 - the twenty year anniversary season celebration.

Joe , now a successful after dinner speaker said "It was a real special occasion , I loved my time at Hartlepool United ,and all of my speech on the evening was reflecting the fantastic promotion season.  The season had its highs and lows, the loss of the great Cyril Knowles was a tragedy that still haunts me to this day - and we reflected on that too."

Paul Baker, the Pools captain in the season, was also responsible for sharing almost 50 goals with Joe.

He said "That season was undoubtedly the best of my career, and I was so proud to be playing for Hartlepool United, the people in the town and the club were unbelievable to me."

"We had a unique bond as a squad, and various tough events in that season simply made us stronger as a unit. Pools supporters of that era often tell me it was the best squad they had ever had the pleasure of watching at the Vic, and that means so much to me. It was a real pleasure to meet up with the lads again and to chat with the fans."

As well as Joe and Paul, Brian Honour, Paul Dalton, Mick Smith , Keith Knobbs, Alan Murray and many more attended the 20 year celebrations.

Pool's best known fan Sky  Sport's Jeff Stelling (pictured left) gave his backing to the Promotion winning squad of 90 /91 and the celebration party at the Rovers Quoit club.

Jeff spoke to Goffy Media ahead of the event and said "What a night this will be - the Centenary dinner was one of the best night's I have ever been to - and this will be just as good."

"The team was packed with skill, character and commitment - all the ingredients were there for a great team. If fans can get there - get there -and pay tribute to this squad of very special players" said Jeff.
