Project - Ricky Hatton

Here's a project Goffy Media handled in February 2008.

The brief was to organise and promote awareness of a Dinner in memory of former Middlesbrough and England footballer Stewart Downing's 4 year old sister Vicky who tragically died of cancer.

The charity function, held at the Tall Trees in Yarm, raised thousands of pounds for the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, where Vicky was treated during her illness.

Goffy Media's first role was to raise awareness of the dinner, featuring champion boxer Ricky Hatton in conversation with Goffy.

Firstly we arranged press releases and media competitions, and then a press conference to launch the dinner, with media from all over the country attending, including BBC, ITV, Sky TV, Setanta, plus various radio stations and written press.

Stewart was keen that the event was not only to raise money, but also increase awareness of the RVI and the good work they do.

So on the night Goffy Media arranged for a lot of press to be in attendance, including BBC Look North, with Mark Tulip presenting their sports bulletin live from the Tall Trees. Sky Sports also featured the event heavily for the following 24 hours in their news.
The actual event was a sell-out, with many celebrities and sporting greats lending their support.

The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and included Goffy chatting to Ricky Hatton on stage about his career. Pictured right is Goffy on the night with Ricky and Stewart.
This event is a great example of what Goffy Media can do.
